The CW/DC Universe has already handled some of the weirdest sides of world of DC Comics—but you have to admire its gung-ho desire to bring some of its most bizarre concepts to the big screen. Arrow did Ragman, Flash got Grodd, and now Supergirl is getting everyone’s favorite wanderer of the fifth dimension, Mr. Mxyzptlk.
The CW confirmed to Comicbook.com that Mxyzptlk—in the comics, a fanciful and mischievous being from the fifth dimension who could alter reality to his whim—will appear in two episodes of Supergirl season two next year, although nothing else about his appearance was mentioned.
This isn’t the first time Mxyzptlk has actually appeared in live action (versions have appeared on Smallville, Adventures of Superboy, and Lois and Clark), but it’s probably the best chance yet at bringing the character’s powerset to life on the small screen. Mxyzptlk can do some weird shit, and has a fondness for smashing the fourth wall thoroughly into pieces, so it’ll be interesting to see what shenanigans he brings to Supergirl.
