The Light Bead Curtain is a musical installation by Jin-Yo Mok and Ahmi Wolf that consists of a series of beads that light up and play a unique sound when touched. The curtain allows for you to interact in a number of ways, including touching the beads individually, hurling yourself into it for the love and affection you so badly desire and also touching it with your face (their suggestion, not ours).
The curtain’s play mechanism is so simple and direct that anyone can easily understand how to play. Touch sensors are embedded within each bead, connected to microcontrollers which communicate on a central sensor network with a computer. The beads are also controllable via the computer.
It’s part of the very fun Music Box Project which you may remember us covering earlier.
