This is more than just coincidence: NASA has this new robot they are developing that they hope to someday use for EVA missions (Extravehicular Activity i.e. spacewalking) because space walks are dangerous and expensive (and sending manned missions up every time you need some manual labor done is a pain). So they’re working on a prototype ‘Robonaut’ anthropomorphic robot that can be remotely-controlled by astronauts (or from the ground, one would think) to do all the various things that a spacewalker could do, opposable thumbs and all. What’s weird, though, is how much the Robonaut looks like a certain Mandelorian bounty hunter who remains, as cultural pundit Peter Griffin once opined, “Sweet.”
