Is it wrong of me to want all my communications gear to have telescoping metal antennas coming out of the top? I know that’s not very chic these days, but my heart does a little flutter when I see stuff like this NEC N940 phone (the pic in the right top corner). Sadly, it’s not for improving phone reception, but instead for giving the little phone a better shot at picking up a TV signal. The clamshell below, the N840, has Bluetooth, a two-megapixel camera, and lots of other really decent features—too bad both phones are to be released in China.
I would like the global economy back where the United States gets the coolest stuff first. Is there some country we can invade to make that happen?
