Hey, I heard a rumor that the mythical Neonode N1 phone/mp3 player/camera — you know, the one that was supposed to start shipping, like, two years ago? — has started shipping to customers. There’s nothing on their site, though, so if anyone would like to confirm or deny the vaporous rumors, feel free.

Update: If you can read Swedish, then feel free to peruse this report from Mobil.se, but otherwise, here is reader Adrian Bengston’s summation:
Apparantly Neonode has sent out a press release today saying they’re shipping the Neonode N1. But when Mobil contacts them they get vary vague, weird answers. They answers both yes and no. They have shipped the phone to customers that have prepaid for the phone and they will get the phone within 10 days. But they can’t say for sure that they’ve actually shipped the phones yet.
The phone Neonode says they’ve shipped needs to be updated. According to the article information about what’s missing before software update is specified on the Neonode site (although I haven’t checked it myself). Missing functions are: mms, wap, pgrs, ir software, html reader, Actice Sync and personal themes. And even after the update there won’t be Java.
