Home Theater Magazine on Runco’s new CX series of plasma screens. Apparently these screens have a 1500:1 contrast ratio and light output of 500 cd/m2. (That’s candelas per square meter, the standard measure of luminance. A CRT screen might have 100 cd/m2.) This means that the screens look as good in a brightly-lit room as they do in a completely dark one.
