GamesIndustry.biz reports rumors from retail sources that suggest Nintendo will be launching its DS touchscreen portable gaming console on November 4th in Japan at a price of ¥19,000 (~$174), followed by a US launch on November 11th for around $180. While a holiday season launch would be good for Nintendo (especially to get a jump on the Sony PSP), there is no official word from Big N as to the legitimacy of the dates.

And in a recent interview with Nintendo masthead Shigeru Miyamoto, he mentioned that it would be possible to use the DS’s Wi-Fi connection to connect to the internet, although it was not in Nintendo’s plans to add the functionality themselves — they added the 802.11 technology simply for multiplayer gaming.
