The Nokia 7700, the Series 90 prototype phone with the touchscreen and looks of a stormtrooper dropping has been dropped from Nokia’s lineup according to the company. Although Nokia’s EVP Matti Alahuhta maintains that more Series 90 phones will be released in the near future (especially next year), the 7700 was likely too out there for Nokia to put their full weight behind — remember, this was one of the last phones bearing the vestiges of Sidetalkin’. I’m disappointed, though; for all it’s probably failure in the market, the 7700 was clearly something unique, and I would have liked to have played around with it, at least. Pre-production 7700s will still be used to showcase Series 90 features, though, so don’t be too surprised to see the units still popping up here and there.
