North American PSP: Region Coded (But For What?)

By

Reading time 1 minute

CQ-EFnet was looking through the same PSP documents we were looking at earlier in the day (but obviously weren’t quite as hammered) and discovered something potentially very disappointing, but inevitable—it appears that the Playstation Portable will be region coded. Now here’s the thing: we knew that. Japanese PSPs have had a “Region 2” label on them since the beginning. Now it’s the job of everyone who isn’t drinking to scour the rest of the documents and see if you can determine if this is just for movies or if it’ll apply to games as well (DVDs are region coded, but traditionally portable games—the Game Boy—have not been).

And if anything happens to the PDF manuals, I’ve got copies stashed here after the jump. Update: GamesRadar says the region code is just for movies, not games. I’ll try to speak to Sony to confirm.
