The LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Falcon set reimagines the Millennium Falcon as a red-and-black starship from a different corner of the Star Wars galaxy. This 1,579-piece set was inspired by the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy special and gives the classic freighter a darker color scheme, while still letting you access hidden play areas behind hinged top panels. Fortunately, you still get the classic saucer shape with a detachable cockpit, rotating cannon, and spring-loaded shooter, plus a radar dish.
A fun, detailed LEGO kit from a galaxy far, far away…
The inside of the Dark Falcon set is arranged like a miniature base. The large top panels swing upward, revealing a removable throne for Darth Jar Jar, a command center, bunk beds, an entertainment area, and a jail cell. You can move characters from one station to another, decide who ends up in jail, and once you close the hull, everything disappears into a ship that still looks ready for display on a shelf.
The minifigure selection continues the Rebuild the Galaxy theme by introducing new and unusual role combinations. You get Darth Jar Jar, Bounty Hunter C-3PO, Darth Dev, Darth Rey, Beach Luke, and Jedi Vader, along with accessories such as lightsabers and a blue milk carton. This lineup gives you plenty of options for oddball alliances or battles between alternate versions of familiar characters. Plus, there are enough figures to populate the cockpit, gunner post, and interior areas without the ship feeling empty.
Although the exterior of The Dark Falcon retains the iconic outline of the Millennium Falcon, it trades the classic gray for a darker color scheme with red highlights that create bold contrast on a shelf. The finished model measures 5 inches tall, 17 inches long, and 12.5 inches wide. The cockpit can accommodate two minifigures, the gunner post accommodates two more, and the spring-loaded shooter and rotating cannons give you a fun way to stage space battles with other ships in your collection.
LEGO designed the building process to feel satisfying. The instructions guide you through all 1,579 pieces to create a sturdy finished model. LEGO recommends the set for builders aged 10 and older, making it a solid pick if you enjoy larger builds. The flat base makes it easy to move between a play surface and a shelf, and with the detailed interior, six minifigures, functional weapons, and display-friendly size, LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Falcon gives you a lot to build and play with. At $152 on sale instead of $180, it’s a more affordable way to add an alternate take on the Millennium Falcon to your collection.
