PhotographyBlog reviews the Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom camera and comes away very impressed. At first confusing, the over-abundance of external controls soon make the most-used functions of the C-8080 a quick button press away, removing the need to dig through menus for about 75% of the commands. It does suffer from much of the same high-ISO noise levels as other high-megapixel cameras (the C-8080 is an 8-megapixel fancypants), but in general image quality is solid. Coming in around a grand, it’s not exactly cheap, but if you want to try the higher megapixel cameras instead one of the 6-megapixel DSLRs, the C-8080 looks worth considering.
