Ossur Power Knee

By

Reading time 1 minute

Prosthetic limbs have come a long way lately, but there are still limitations when it comes to things like climbing stairs or other activities where the prosthetic itself needs to replace some muscle power. The new aptly-named Power Knee, developed by Victhom and marketed by Ossur, aims to address that issue by putting not only a powered motor inside the prosthetic, but a bunch of sensors to predict in exactly what way the limb will need to react. My description is fairly boring for something so exciting, so maybe you should check out the videos that show a man wearing one climbing stairs (okay, that sounds boring, too, but it’s not, if you have a heart). (Thanks, J!)
