PalmOne doubled Wall Street estimates this week, reporting their first profit as a standalone company due to strong sales of the Treo 600, causing a 22 percent hike in stock price in after hours trading. Sales of the Treo 600 (and the upcoming 610 version) are expected to keep profits high, while PalmOne also tries to expand to fill the space left by Sony’s exit from the PDA market outside of Japan. PalmOne shipped 151,000 Treo 600s during the fourth fiscal quarter, out of 1.1 million devices, total. If the 610 causes a healthy price reduction for the 600 — and they can keep up with demand — both models will fly off the shelves. (Thanks, Chaz, for the Photochop.)
