Panasonic Plus Controls Your Home Alarm

ADT Security Services has a new service for those of you who don’t think just putting their little sign in your window is enough to ward off evil doers. The Panasonic Plus phone is a cordless home phone (remember those?) who’s base comes with dial pad and second, corded phone (remember those?). The dial pad doubles as an arming station for your alarm system or puts you in immediate two-way contact with ADT operators, who will call emergency services for you at the drop of a hat (just the sort of thing you want for when kids reach that awkward, but hilarious prank call phase). In case of black outs, downed power-lines, or Cape Fear freakouts, the phone system runs off a back up power supply. The handset is $200, before whatever ADT services you decide to pick up.

Sure it’s a Phone, but it Doubles as a Link to the Household Alarm System [NYT]
