Being the next iPod might be difficult, but being the next Walkman is pretty easy. Maybe that’s why Panasonic has announced their new RQ-SX59 K7, an audio cassette player with in-line remote and rechargeable battery. It even comes with its own docking cradle to make topping off the battery easy-peasy. With a long-play cassette, Panasonic estimates a 66-hour battery life—almost good enough to convince me to switch back over. I think I’ve still got The Karate Kid II soundtrack around here somewhere. Magnetic tape really brings out the angelic tones of Peter Cetera’s warble.
