This October Panasonic plans to begin selling the DMR-HS2, a DVD recorder with a built-in 40GB hard drive. It means that unlike with a TiVo or a ReplayTV, you could archive your shows to DVD-R once you fill up the hard drive. It also means that it’ll be really easy for people to share digital copies of their favorite shows with friends, something the networks won’t be too happy about. EdgeReview has an early look at it here.
