For just a hair under $400, you can pick up the Pentax Optio SV, a five-megapixel camera with a built-in 5x optical zoom lens (surprising in a camera this svelte, as most in this class have just a 3x optical zoom). Riyad at Trusted Reviews has had the SV for a couple of weeks and is pleased as punch. Besides a slight lack of pixel clarity in image quality, it’s a solid and affordable sidearm. And it happens to fix one of my personal bugbears in digital cameras, which is the lack of a time-limit when recording a movie to its SD memory cards. Why some manufacturers limit you to 30 or 90 second clips I’ll never know. I suspect communism.
