New York electronics superstore J&R has the VisionTek Xtasy ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB) video card on sale for just $150 with $5 shipping (New York state crew pays tax). The 9800 Pro isn’t the most cutting edge video card out there today, but I can personally vouch for its continued ability to play all the newest games. It’s still able to pump polygons in Doom 3, Tribes: Vengeance, and Rome: Total War just fine. Better than fine, actually, and I paid $300 for mine just six sad months ago.
Oh, and despite the dorky name, VisionTek is a fairly well-known brand, so I wouldn’t worry about that.
