RIAA Sues Teen, Gets Bitchslapped

The RIAA just doesn't learn its lesson sometimes. 16-year-old Robert Santangelo has seen privacy lawsuits before. His mom, Patti Santangelo, was sued by the RIAA in 2005 and refused to settle. She took her case public and became a hero to DRM hating nerds everywhere.

And the RIAA, stupid idiots, went ahead and sued her kid. Robert, like his mom, isn't taking no shit from no one. Robby demanded a jury trial and submitted a counterclaim, accusing the RIAA, amongst other things, of "engag[ing] in a wide-ranging conspiracy to defraud the courts of the United States." He went on to say that while the RIAA are "ostensibly competitors in the recording industry, are a cartel acting collusively in violation of the antitrust laws and public policy."

Keep on fighting the good fight, Robert.

Heffae says:

"It will be interesting if it goes to Trial I would assume not because the RIAA isn't interested in the money they want to keep people scared and if there is a chance of loosing and setting a precedent that goes against them I think they will drop the case."

I think now, with the counter suit, the kid can continue even if RIAA drops their suit. He's not just defending, he's COUNTER suing those bastards. I love it. More power to him. Great article by Courtney Love here... http://archive.salon.com/tech/feature/2…

(who knew the crazy, drugged out bitch actually had a brain!?) Counters everything that the big media conglomerates are trying to do by forcing their antiquated business model down our throats.
