The Retinal 2K video captures footage at 2560 by 1440 resolution, and with up to 6x Enhanced Zoom, you can enlarge images of people and their cars. The 2,000-lumen LED floodlights turn on as soon as the camera detects movement, and it also has a built-in siren and two-way talk via the Ring app.

This model is designed for big outdoor spaces such as a garage, a long driveway, a large yard, or a huge patio. Along with capturing a wide-angle image, the camera is equipped with a built-in siren, motion-activated floodlights, and Two-Way Talk, all in a single hardwired unit. So instead of buying a separate security camera for video monitoring and another lighting system for illumination, you get all of this in one piece of equipment.
The Retinal 2K video quality is much clearer than older 1080p models. Because Ring tunes its cameras for excellent quality in both daytime and low-light conditions, the picture holds up whether you’re watching live or viewing recorded footage. When you zoom in on an object, Ring’s Hyperfocus technology enhances detail in those areas, and HDR preserves detail in areas that otherwise appear overly bright, such as when a porch light or car headlights enter the frame.
With up to 6x Enhanced Zoom, you can zoom in on objects and still maintain the clarity needed to identify them. To do this, pinch in and out on your phone screen while viewing the live feed or previously captured recordings. When you need to take a closer look at someone or something at the far edge of your property, this feature is extremely helpful.
When the camera detects motion, the 2,000-lumen LED floodlights illuminate a large area, helping you confirm what’s going on and discourage anyone lingering around your property. You can also activate the siren remotely from the Ring app to scare off unwanted visitors.
Everything comes together inside the Ring app. Here, you can receive real-time motion notifications, view your camera anytime you’d like, talk with delivery drivers or guests using Two-Way Talk, and customize where motion notifications occur. For example, you can set motion alerts specifically for your driveway but ignore your neighbors’ walkways.
If you sign up for a Ring Protect plan, sold separately, you get additional benefits, including video history that lets you review any incidents you might have missed. The camera also works with Amazon Alexa, allowing you to watch live views on your Echo Show or get notifications from Echo devices.
The Ring Floodlight Cam 2K connects directly into your home’s electrical wiring, providing constant power without batteries to recharge. As for internet requirements, Ring recommends an upload speed of at least 5 Mbps to ensure reliable video transmission. Adaptive bit rate streaming adjusts video quality based on your connection speed to help prevent buffering and stalling.
