Everyday Robots, a new site from the people who produce PDA Buyer’s Guide, has a few sneak preview images from this year’s RoboNexus show, sort of CeBit for cyborgs that’s happening in California even as we speak. Besides commercial products like those from iRobot on display, there are also quite a few experimental robots on the floor, including this Appleseed-like bipedal unit from Kawada Industries, the HRP-2 [left] (shown for the first time outside of Japan).
Just as interesting to me are these iRobot “Swarm” prototype robots. While I can only infer their behavior from the picture, I think anyone can look forward to the day when little herds of robots will flow around our feet doing odd jobs and acting as our own personal sensor array. We’ll all be like that ship from Gradius (the Vic Viper?), with rotating, multi-function Options orbiting.
