We recently saw this PC Gameworld review of Saitek’s somewhat new backlit gamer’s keyboard. One can imagine the sheer glowy blueness of it adding an element of sci-fi creepiness to those long nights of fragging. Perhaps more importantly, you can sit in a dark room and actually see what keys you’re hitting. It’s got a USB interface (in other words, it’s not wireless) but this seems forgivable to the reviewer (and me) considering the lit-up nature of the device—at least you won’t have to change batteries every week or two. The so-called ‘Command Pad’ might be the most interesting feature, with nine programmable buttons and two ‘shift’ keys for a total of 27 programmable commands (although similar devices have existed for some time).
Initial reports from gamers also confirm the keyboard is of the ‘clickity’ persuasion. Do not consider it if you are one of those namby-pamby ‘softtouch’ types. This is a man’s keyboard, and makes the clicks of victory.
