Samsung Adds DivX Support via Firmware Update

Now I’m sure you’ll correct me if I’m wrong, but do any of the current movie download services offer their wares in DivX format? Because if not, where exactly does Samsung, when detailing its plans to upgrade some of its DVD player firmware to support DivX, intend its customers to get the files that “can be downloaded over high-speed lines in a relatively short time?” Surely not the internet. That would be tantamount to murdering film carpenters’ entire families.

That aside, DivX firmware updates for Samsung players from the company itself is plus plus. Now if they’d throw in a little XviD flavor we could stream the movies we’ve already (legally, for honest) ripped. Update: Oh, hey, it says it supports Xvid right in the image that I put up myself. I’m mostly functional! (Thanks, Antii!)

Also, Happy Birthday, Modbuster!
