Your average person tends to underestimate just how important quality audio can be. If you’re trying to bring the experience of the cinema into your living room, you’re not going to achieve that by buying a bigger panel. You’ll do it by ditching whatever built-in speakers your TV came with and instead opting to use a dedicated sound system. The good news is that even at its most affordable level, adding a soundbar to your home theater will have an exponential effect of the audio experience of everyone watching. The Samsung B-Series soundbar and subwoofer is a tried and true combo that won’t clean out your bank account, and right now, it’s been made even more affordable thanks to a deal at Amazon.

At the time of writing, Amazon has the price of the B-Series HW-B550F soundbar and subwoofer from Samsung reduced by 23%. Together, these normally sell for $230. However, after accounting for the discount, you’ll end up saving yourself a good $52. That means you can drastically improve your TV audio for just $178 for a limited time.

Hear Every Word of Dialogue

One of the biggest pain points when it comes to watching movies at home is that it seems like studios forget how to mix good sound. You’ll be watching two actors exchanging a bit of dialogue and it’ll feel like they’re mumbling every line. But then as you go to turn up the volume, the scene changes and BAM. You’ve got the sound of guns firing or car tires peeling out and it’s loud enough to be in the room with you.

This all gets fixed with the Samsung soundbar. The B-Series is able to automatically amplify dialogue so you won’t miss a word. You can even adjust the center channel where most vocals are set to come out separately from the other channels, giving you control of the mix yourself. No more having to enable captions when you don’t want them or having to ride the volume control on the remote from scene to scene.

Set up for the Samsung soundbar is super simple. It can be plugged into your TV either using optical cable or across HDMI ARC. If you go with the latter, then you’ll actually be able to use your TV’s own remote to control the volume on the soundbar and subwoofer. The system also supports Bluetooth so if you want to queue up some music from your phone, that becomes easy to do.
