With all the talk of 3-megapixel cameraphones, it’s almost easy to forgot we’re still stuck with crappy VGA-quality imagers here in the Western world. Fortunately, Europe’s starting to see some 1-megapixel jobs, and PocketLint got their hands on the Samsung p730, their first megapixel handset (the one with the cool twisty flip top). Overall, they like it a lot, despite the smallish (but clear) screen and lack of Bluetooth, although they didn’t get a chance to really try it out as a phone, since they model they had was pre-production and not set up on a service. Samsung plans for the p730 to hold the fort until a 2-megapixel variant comes along later this year. Meanwhile, in the States, I’m looking at the cracked lens of my Nokia 3650 and wondering how long it’s going to be before I can pitch this junker for something with a better camera.
