What kind of monitor are you working with right now? You may have put a ton of money into putting together a custom PC that can really shoot for the stars, or even a pre-built one that is pushing everything to the limit. The thing is though if you’re monitor isn’t up to snuff, all that extra power is just going to waste. You can upgrade to something with great picture quality without taking out a second mortgage. Samsung’s 34-inch ViewFinity S50GC monitor is a fantastic option that just got even cheaper. Normally sold for $330, it’s now 36% off. That ends up taking off $120, bringing the price you pay down to just $210 for a limited time.

With a huge 34-inch canvas to work with, you can see every detail in a beautifully wide 21:9 aspect ratio wit ha resolution of 3440 by 1440 pixels. The bezel is extra thing to maximize how much of the monitor is dedicated to screen space. When used in a dual monitor setup, it’s almost gapless.

Brilliant Range of Colors

The Samsung ViewFinity has excellent color depth. Standard SDR tech only supports 16.7 million colors, which may sound like a lot, but this monitors HDR10 pushes that up to over one billion. Dark colors will appear darker while bright colors will appear brighter. You won’t get that ugly blocking that can sometimes be seen in night shots of TV shows and movies.

This monitor is definitely geared more toward creative work than it is gaming, which is clear when we take a look at it’s refresh rate and input delay. The Samsung ViewFinity S50GC supports 100Hz which is a pretty good. You’ll be able to get 60fps or better out of that, though there are other monitors in this price range that can do better. Likewise, this monitor has a 5ms response time. Now that is better than what most TVs can support, even those marketed toward gaming. Though when propped up against other gaming monitors, many are able to do 1ms or even faster than that. It does have FreeSync to prevent screen tearing which is nice.

However, unless you are super particular about specs, the average person may not notice much of a difference between this and something higher end and pricier, so it’s definitely a good value—even if used for gaming.

As for your connectivity options, the screen has two HDMI 2.2 inputs as well as a DisplayPort 1.2 input. You can even view from two difference sources simultaneously using picture in picture—a good benefit of the monitor being so wide.
