When your TV is off, it’s just sort of… there. It’s kind of weird to think that we just keep these big black rectangles in our living rooms when they can be so much more. That’s the though process behind Samsung’s “The Frame” lineup of TVs. These displays serve the dual purpose of being a full smart TV for when you want to sit down with a movie or TV show, and then can revert to a piece of art when not in use. Right now, Amazon has some on sale across a range of sizes.
Amazon is now giving away its 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch models of The Frame smart TVs at increasing levels of discount. You can now get the 43-inch for $698 ($200 off), the 50-inch for $748 ( $250 off), the 55-inch for $798 ($300 off), and the 65-inch for $998 ($500 off). Additionally, the Pro model in the sizes 65-inch and 75-inch have also seen a dip. Get the 65-inch Pro for $1,498 ($600 off) or the 75-inch Pro for $1,798 ($1,200 off).
Real Art on Your Wall
Samsung’s The Frame TVs are designed to look like you’ve hung up a painting on the wall, rather than mounting a TV. The bezel looks like that of a picture frame and can even be swapped out for different colors and finishes to better match your room’s aesthetic.
With The Frame, you can set it to display artwork from a curated collection from the Art Store. Additionally, you can upload your own photos or artwork to have it rotate through when the TV would otherwise be off. This display even adds a white matte border like you would find in picture frames.
What really makes this work is the matt display. The Frame has an anti-reflection panel so you can view your displayed art from any angle in the room, glare-free. The matte finish also gives it a print-like finish that looks like it could be something you come across in a gallery or hanging in a museum. It really does look pretty exceptional when displaying still, high-detail images.
Samsung has included a slim-fit wall mount which allows the TV to hang like a picture. This keeps the display flush against the wall, adding to the illusion that this is just a framed painting you have up there.
When you are using the TV for—you know—TV purposes, you’re working with a 4K QLED display capable of 144Hz. You’ll get crystal clear picture with smooth motion when watching your favorite shows, movies, or playing games.
