Shokz has really built a name for itself among runners in the last few years. Their open-ear design makes the perfect for hitting the roads and trails alike, and right now, Amazon happens to have the Shokz OpenDots 2 clip-on earbuds going for 15% off. Normally, you’d find these open-ear earbuds selling for a good $200, but the limited-time discount ends up taking the price down buy $30. Open-Ear for Staying Alert

So what makes these earbuds and other from Shokz the ideal choice for runners? It’s the open-ear design. While most earbuds sit inside your ear, creating a seal that block out outside noises, the Shokz OpenDots 2 clip onto the back of your ear keeping your ear canal unobstructed.

Now in situations like working at your desk in front of the computer, you might prefer the in-ear setup up as it can help you hear only what’s coming through the earbuds. However, if you’re out running on the roads, it’s of high importance that you are keenly aware what’s going on around you. The open-ear design allows environmental sounds to still come through. This way, if you have a car driving up from behind you, you’ll know. Safety first and all.

The Shokz clip-on earbuds are also lightweight and comfortable to wear for extended use. The left and right earbud are even entirely interchangeable. They’re set up with dynamic ear detection which can automatically recognize which ear they’re clipped onto.

Despite not sitting inside of your ear, you’ll still be able to experience great sound. The earbuds are powered by Shokz Bassphere 2.0  and uses dual 11.8mm drivers. They also supports Dolby Audio.

You can take calls using these Shokz OpenDots 2 earbuds as well. They’re equipped with three microphones each—a dedicated bone conduction mic paired with two air-conduction mics—to help isolate your voice from your surroundings. This way even while you’re moving through a busy street or crowded area, folks on the other end of the line will be able to hear you and only you.

Battery life is more than adequate. You can enjoy listening to music, audiobooks, or podcasts for up to 40 hours on a single charge. Charging for just five minutes will grand you an additional tow hours or playback time.
