Ouch! It looks like that Skype USB adapter (the Gigaset M34) that would let owners of Siemens cordless phones use Skype voice-over-IP instead of their traditional long distance service isn’t coming to the US after all. Om Malik gave them a ring to ask for a review unit and was told there aren’t any plans to market the device in the States. Too bad, too. While the adapter was a bit spendy at $130 a pop (plus a Siemens phone if you don’t already have one, of course), the price could quickly be made up for Skype users who make a lot a calls—if nothing else, it would be a lot more convenient than sitting on a PC.
