This thing popped up yesterday and I think it deserves mention. It’s a Fujitsu light bulb that sends an SMS when it burns out via Powerline IP. Yep, that’s right. When the bulb plinks out, it sends a message over your home wiring, out to a main server, and then back to your cell phone. I’m thinking that this might be better for things like, say, life support systems and aquariums, but if you NEED the sense of control over your lighting choices these offer, you now have that option.
