One of the reasons the films of Laika Studios are so special is that they’re real. Oh, sure. Subjects like young girls going to magical lands or young boys who see ghosts aren’t real. But the fact that they’re made by hand, with stop-motion animation, makes that fantasy feel grounded. It also makes it feel like you can pick up the characters and bring them into your home. Which you can soon do with the new film, Wildwood.
io9 can exclusively reveal some of the very first collectibles from the new Laika film, and they’re from the team at Thrilljoy. We’ve got your first look at PIX! versions of Prue, Curtis, and Alexandra, who each come as one of three possibilities. The total edition is 7,500, with a 1:6 chance of getting Curtis, and about a 1:300 chance of getting Alexandra (there are only 24 of her in the whole run). The rest are of the film’s hero, Prue. Here are a few images.
But wait, there’s more. There’s also a second PIX! coming, also in an edition of 7,500, that is either Prue or Curtis (still in that 1:6 ratio) in other outfits. Again, a few images.
As seen in the latest trailer that just dropped, Prue heads to Wildwood along with her friend Curtis to search for her brother. Once there, she realizes she’s in a world that’s at war. And so, with these figures, you can kind of choose your own adventure. Do you like the Prue and Curtis who are more casual and not about to go into battle? Then go with the second pack. Do you want to see them dressed in their battle best? The first one might be more fitting.
We can’t wait to see how this all plays out when Wildwood hits theaters on October 23. Tickets are on sale now.
