Sensors scattered throughout the jacket record ambient sound from the wearer’s environment—be it footsteps, construction work, or that guy who yells at me every day that baby Jesus taught him to fly—and shoots it through a MIDI converter, turning urban cacophony into original music playing out of your headphones. A neat if not at all practical idea, I’d like to see Sonic City thrive in the real world at least long enough for the inevitable Bjork concept album.
