The Reg’s Tony Smith reviews the Sony Ericsson P910i, the update to the P900, which was in turn the update to the P800. It’s third time charms for Tony, as the upgraded screen and well-polished user interface have finally won him over to Sony’s premier smartphone platform. It’s not all melons and meerkats for the phone, though, as the flip-down QWERTY keyboard still is hacky, at best (no cursor keys?).
Number one WTFeature, though: the media player on the P910i can play AAC files (albeit not ones DRM-restricted from iTunes Music Store). If you need a good example of Sony’s strange ‘one hand unaware of the other’ product development—and bear in mind this is the company whose MP3 players didn’t support MP3 just a couple of months ago—you’ll find no better example than that.
