Sony HMP-A1 Reviewed, Not Hitting the UK Until Summer

Pocket-Lint had a chance to play around with the Sony HMP-A1, the hard disk-based media player that’s already available in Japan (and from importers), although it won’t be officially available in the UK until next summer (Uhm, Sony?). He likes it well enough, but I think if he had a little more time to play around with it, he’d come to the same conclusion I did – it’s nice, it’s neat, it’s shiny and black and that’s always a plus, but ultimately it’s bogged down by the typical Sony DRM-and-propriety-tools cruft, and other portable media players have much the same options without all the hassle (and for less money, on the whole).
