Sony’s PSP hit the streets of Japan this weekend—and the streets of the US, for those who pre-ordered (I decided to give it a pass, since I sort of forgot to get my order in before it was too late). Gamespot has a great Q&A up for the early adopters, detailing how to get video files to play back from the PSP’s MemoryStick, as well as some guesses on why games from other regions should (or should not) play on the Japanese PSPs—and why movies on UMD discs probably won’t play at all.
A little frustrating are reports of 10-15 second load times for many games—that’s just in between levels—and battery life that can range from 90 minutes to 3 hours for certain games (and that’s before they turned on the Wi-Fi networking). Bummer, but not totally unexpected.
