Sony’s new “SCD-DR1” Super Audio CD/Audio CD player is apparently the pinnacle of high quality audio playback – or at least we hope so with its $11,000 price tag. Sporting audio interfaces you probably haven’t heard of, such as the “High Quality Digital Audio Transmission System,” the player can output using optical, coaxial, balanced digital, and even i.Link (Sony’s FireWire flavor) ports. The latter should help you with those 200Mbps Super Audio CD DSD (Direct Stream Digital) transfers.
Sounds expensive. Oh, that’s right, it is expensive. Let’s hope you get what you pay for.
