Sony Marketing is holding the “Sony Dealer Convention” until the 17th, and I felt as though there were a couple items of note. So begin noting.
First of all, there were a couple “unannounced” products. You can see at the right a picture of the Gran-Turismo-style-glossjob-having-wireless optical mouse, the “SMU-WSM2.” A wired model of this mouse is also planned. The second unannounced product is a portable USB active speaker system, with a super duper wind up cable! Or something, it appears to be pretty dry.
Since these two items alone wouldn’t make for much of an interesting read, I’ve saved the best for last: concept models! As you may have known, Sony has recently unveiled its “Hi-MD” format, which promises a 1GB data capacity on MiniDiscs. That’s all fine and dandy for the music scene, but in the Sony tradition, new medias are pushed to applications across all platforms. With a write-many 1GB capacity at a pretty cheap price ($7 MSRP, I believe), you might be excited to see the concept models of a Hi-MD portable video player, Hi-MD digital camera, and even a head-mounted display system with connection to a Hi-MD device. Oh Sony, what new media types won’t you blow your money promoting?
