Continuing with Sony’s announcements, NE Asia brings word that the company plans on using Playstation 2 chips inside of new flat panel TVs to be introduced this Fall. This announcement has confused many as it counters what Mr. Playstation himself, Ken Kutaragi, stated in an interview during September of last year – that “it is not the time for those rocks (PS2 chips) to be going inside of televisions.” Maybe he’s changed his mind in a year?
All we can do for now is speculate, but the prospect of a TV with integrated PS2 is sweet. For now, however, the chips “will improve the TV’s image processing capability.” Damnation.
