Sony Upgrades AIBO ERS-7

By

Reading time 1 minute

Sony’s updating their robot dog AIBO again, this time offering it in a black breed, although with the same body as the previous ERS-7 model. New software updates will allow AIBO to recognize and remember objects and use them as an aide to navigation, “tighten up response times,” and make the AIBOs in general more playful. The voice command response time is greatly increased, too, from a fantasy-distorting 7 seconds down to just 1.

Upgrades to the AIBO Mind 2 software also will allow the dog to—when used in conjunction with a Sony Entertainment Player—to record video, sound, or pictures when it detects movement or sound and email them to you when you’re away. They get so mad at the shelter when I ask them if any of the strays can do that.
