I had a chance to play around with Sony’s LocationFree WiFi TVs at the Home Theater Show last week and while I’m still not real big on the whole ‘wireless TV’ thing—at least, wireless battery-powered TV; WiFi A/V equipment makes perfect sense—both the LF-X1 (the 12.1-inch 800 x 600 unit) and the LF-X5 (the 7-inch, 800 x 480 unit) were pretty slick little products. Sony was displaying the LF-X1 with a live TiVo connection (pictured), and its obvious they hope to sell the LocationFree to people who want to integrate TV into their lifestyle in more subtle mobile ways. The LF-X5 was especially nice looking, and could be a nice adjunct to a home’s primary display.
Also, as for the Home Theater Show, if I never have to wander from room to room filled with audio geeks decrying the breathtaking acoustical pristine rich overtonal waveform resonance that was clearly the summation of a lifetime of genius it’ll be too soon.
