Sony has taken its impressive X-Brite/X-Black LCD flat-panel technology out of its VAIO notebook computers and placed it in a couple of new standalone monitors, the 17-inch SDM-HS74P and the 19-inch SDM-HS94P, both of which share a native resolution of 1,280 x 1,024. If you haven’t seen an X-Brite screen before, it’s worth checking out. While you won’t mistake it for real life, no birds will try to fly through it or anything, but the special anti-glare filter that Sony uses really does make for a nice looking monitor. The Register doesn’t have prices, but a cursory scan of the web shows prices around $600 for the 17-inch model, and around $850 for the 19-inch.
Oh, and the response times — the refresh rate, basically; the thing that determines how good moving images look — are nice, as well, with a 12ms rating on the 19-inch and a 16ms on the 17-inch.
