Everyone’s favorite mentally unhinged, hoodie-wearing hacker, Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) and his associates, both real and imaginary, return tonight for season three of Mr. Robot. It’s been over a year since the show’s complex season two wrapped up, so a look back (and ahead) seems very necessary.
Sam Esmail is best-known for creating, writing, and directing the USA hit Mr. Robot, a show fond of making cinematic references (Fight Club, Taxi Driver, A Clockwork Orange, and more). Now he’s got a new project on his plate, based on one of the greatest scifi movies of all time: Fritz Lang’s Metropolis.
Damn you, Chris Hardwick, look what you did! After seeing the success of aftershows for AMC hits like The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, other networks have been getting in on the action. HBO has one for Game of Thrones, and USA just announced one for season two of Mr. Robot.
The hit USA show Mr. Robot put filmmaker Sam Esmail on the map. His first movie, Comet, was criminally underseen and now the success of the TV series has moved the needle on another one of his screenplays. It’s called Sequels, Remakes, and Adaptations.
Check out the trailer for Sam Esmail's Comet. The time-jumping, nebula-cameoing romance story is channeling a lot of the things we loved about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Not saying these movies are similar, but this trailer has a dark/light feel that gets us excited.
