DAPreview got their hands on a not-quite-retail version of the Tatung Elio PJ, a color-screen hard disk-based media player that seems slightly better than average—although it’s not without a few faults. The only thing that disappoints me is that the glowing half-sphere with the logo isn’t an actual button, but instead just houses the seven-color LED. I’m a sucker for multi-color glowing bits, but I don’t know if I’d like them at the expense of larger buttons. Also, I hate the shiny black plastic case—that’s like the worst color for handheld electronics.
Still, if they can keep the price down when they actually release, it looks like a decent competitor to the other color-screen players.
