This fake AI Mario wasn’t the kind of positive promotion the Proto hologram makers were looking for.
So Mario was at #CES
But uh… who approved this abomination? 💀 pic.twitter.com/diG3axCJIG

Proto, a company that makes hologram boxes that can be used to showcase 3D-looking products or full-sized humans that can be used for real-time communications, had this rather awkward AI Mario stored in their back pocket, and they brought it out briefly on the CES show floor. Needless to say, the inauthentic Italian accent didn’t nab the sort of fun, positive attention Proto was hoping for. Gizmodo personally asked if the company would bring it back for a short while but was—understandably—rebuffed.
