The new Xbox 360 is better for lots of reasons—like its guts. Inside is the first ever mass-market, desktop-class chip combining a CPU, GPU, memory and I/O connectivity on one piece of silicon. Here’s what it looks like:

Compared to the original Xbox 360’s guts, it cuts the power draw by 60 percent, and the surface area of the processor and stuff by 50 percent, since it’s made using the 45nm process (vs. the 90nm process used back in 2005). And, of course, makes it cheaper to manufacture. [Ars]
