Filming on the 24th James Bond film is set to start in early December 2014, so it's no surprise that we're getting some pretty solid casting rumors right now. Two key Bond archetypes have reportedly been cast: the Bond girl and the henchman. Just one guess which one Dave Bautista is supposed to be.
This comes from Latino Review, and I'm never one to take anonymously-sourced stories as true. But if this leaked casting call is true:
We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy.
Hinx (Male, 30 – 45)
Ideally over 6' 2". Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.
then Bautista is a perfect choice. He's proven that he could give an assassin a lot of character in Guardians of the Galaxy, so if the new Bond is serious about competing with Jaws and Oddjob, he's a safe choice.
The other rumor out there is that French actress Léa Seydoux has been cast as a "femme fatale." Like the Bautista rumor, there's enough here that makes sense. Seydoux is coming off of the Academy Award-nominated Blue Is the Warmest Color. And, like Bautista, she has a role in her background that matches the one she's rumored for: Sabine Moreau in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. That was another femme fatale-like part, and we could very well see her fighting in Bond, too. And like the Bautista rumor, it's not an official announcement.
We'll see soon if Bautista and Seydoux will star opposite Daniel Craig in Sam Mendes' second Bond film.
