European wireless carrier MMO2 will be adding BlackBerry capabilities to the Xda II, a phone-slash-PDA. This is a big step for RIM’s BlackBerry Connect licensing program, which is trying to peddle the company’s flagship technology to the Verizons and Vodafones of the world. Uptake’s been relatively slow, perhaps because mobile providers think they can do better with something in-house. Maybe they’re starting to realize that partnering BlackBerry is a much sounder strategy.
