Currently Sony’s DSC-F828 is the only consumer-grade eight megapixel digital camera available, but it doesn’t look like it will be for long. They can’t give us any details because of all the non-disclosure agreements they’ve signed, but the Imaging Resource assures us that a “wave” of eight megapixel digital cameras are on the way. They even go so far as to predict that 2004 will be the year of the eight megapixel digital camera, but that this might also be the time to start rethinking the importance of megapixels and start thinking about the other factors that go into making good digital photographs.
