Long Beach Comic Con and Space Expo invaded southern California for a weekend of costumes, spaceflight, and science. From superheroes with a twist to fuzzy stormtroopers in tutus to gorgeous original creations, this is some seriously impressive cosplay!

It wasn’t all costumes and playtime: for the first time, the comic con paired up with the Columbia Memorial Space Center to host Space Expo at the event. Along with learning about the real science of The Martian from actual NASA Mars scientists, attendees were able to sneak into an actual spacesuit for photographs. That is, if their costumes allowed the addition of an “Astro-” prefix.
