Samsung’s ultra-wide Odyssey OLED G9 is scary big. Seriously, this gaming monitor that measures in at 49 inches across is basically two monitor side-by-side but without the seam in the middle. For anyone that prefers the productivity possible with an ultra-wide setup or would like their games to be as immersive as possible, then the Samsung 49-Inch Odyssey OLED G9 G91SD is worth your attention.

Samsung is running a limited-time promotion on this unit and similar monitors. For one, it’s currently going for $500 off. Normally priced at $1,300, you can momentarily nab one for the new low price of just $800. That’s not all though. If you register your gaming monitor post-purchase, you’ll unlock an exclusive game code for Resident Evil: Requiem. That’s a $70 value.

UItra-wide Gaming

This curved and wide gaming monitor is built from the ground up for gaming. It can display in a dual QHD resolution which equates to 5120 by 1440 pixels. As an OLED panel, it’s capable of delivering steep contrast and a super wide color spectrum. The bright colors are bright, and the blacks look as though the monitor is completely off in those sections of the screen.

The monitor can handle fast-paced gameplay with its refresh rate of up to 144Hz, and it has a crazy fast response time. It can read and display inputs in just 0.03ms, making control of your character in game feel instantaneous.

The 1800R screen curvature is designed to mimic how our eyes see the real world for maximum immersion. The monitor itself is on an adjustable and tiltable stand so you can ensure everything is in perfect view to where and how you’re seated.

Resident Evil at Its Best

Following the separate successes of Capcom’s spiritual reboot of the Resident Evil franchise with first person titles Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil: Village as well as Capcom’s third person remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and especially the most recent Resident Evil 4, fans have been left wondering which direction the developer would go. For Resident Evil 9, would they lean toward the more intimate survival horror of the last couple mainline entries, or would they shift back to the direction of the remake—focusing on action rather than horror. Well it turns out the answer was both.

Resident Evil: Requiem shifts perspective between two main character, one familiar and one brand new. New protagonist Grace’s sections—designed to be played in first person—keep you underpowered and feeling terrified of what’s going to be around each corner. Then it shifts to Leon’s sections which take the over-the-top action moments from the fourth title and turn it up to 11. Resident Evil: Requiem is a brilliant display of everything Capcom has learned over the last decade in this new era of Resident Evil, and if you buy this or another qualifying Samsung monitor, you’ll get to play it for free.
